A Workshop on the Bengston Energy Healing Method®

I attended William Bengston’s workshop in Louisville, Colorado last weekend. I came back home incredibly inspired and completely overwhelmed. It was fantastic.

William Bengston has been curing aggressive cancer with hands-on-healing for over 30 years. He declared throughout the workshop he does not find the actual act of healing as enjoyable as being in the laboratory researching. He is always asking questions about the nature of healing and then creating and conducting the experiments that ultimately generate even more interesting questions. I found out about him and his research last October and he has already learned more about several of the hypothesis he had back then.

A few of Bengston’s ideas conflict with my healing style. I, of course, at first found this stressful because I consider him a genius. Growth can be challenging.

He thinks having a lively conversation with a client during the healing is a fine idea. I have spent years focusing on being present in my sessions which is really just about the opposite of Bengston’s approach. Bengston thinks it is necessary to distract the attention of the healer and the client in order to keep them from interfering in the events on the unconscious level, where he believes the real healing takes place.

I’ll have to think about this. Is my focus on being present interfering with the healings?  Is my intense desire to create an effective healing for my clients actually inhibiting the session in some way? I have to admit I have had this question come up before and it’s time to look at it again.

One of the many reasons I wanted to meet Bengston in person was to see what his energy was like. What kind of energy field would a man who can cure cancer have? I did get a sense of his energetic signature. I know this will be valuable later, but I’m not quite sure how.

Bengston had all the workshop participants charge sterile rolled cotton to use for healing. I had read years ago that cotton, silk and water can be charged with energy and given clients for healing. While everyone was walking around the room charging the cotton I asked to feel his piece of cotton and he generously handed it to me. I may have held it for 45 seconds. Five minutes after I handed it back to him I realized the very significant headache that I had had all weekend from the Colorado altitude was now completely gone. That was really interesting. Really interesting.

I don’t think I have been “healed” like that before. I didn’t notice the actual moment it happened, but just realized the absence of the pain.

William Bengston has a lot of energy. The more he talked the more energized he seem to get and the coordinators, Sue Walker and Margaret Nies, had to really watch the clock or Bengston would have talked right through the breaks and probably through lunch too. On the breaks he was always enthusiastically answering questions.  I noticed him at almost every meal eating with someone from the workshop having an animated exchange. On Sunday morning I was lucky enough to have breakfast with him and with two other participants who were scientists. I wish I could have recorded the conversation. I did make notes on my iPhone that included a years worth of books and reading material.

I now have quite a bit of work to do and ideas to process. I am practicing Bengston’s Image Cycling Technique, which I have already found greatly rewarding on a personal level. This is another perfect time in my healing practice in which I have to rethink everything from a new perspective. Ironically one of the things I really have to rethink is if I’m thinking too much. It’s important to me that I do not get too habitual or complacent in my healings.

Besides having the most interesting data on healing available, Bengston is a passionate speaker, and very, very funny.  He doesn’t teach very often so I would HIGHLY recommend that you get to his next class in Chicago April 13-15th, if you are interested in hands-on-healing.

    1. Savitri,
It was amazing to be in the workshop. I’m practicing his Image Cycling Technique constantly now. I will explain it to you when we have lunch and you can do it, too. He wants everyone to use it and show other people how to do it.
      Thanks for commenting,

  1. Hey there, I am also biggest fan of “William Bengston” here. by the way i learned your article about William Bengston that’s too inspiration ‘method you describe here. Thank you.

  2. Thanks for sharing all that your learning, Jeri! It sounds absolutely mind-blowing. (Who needs “Harry Potter” when there are people doing real magic in the world?)

Perhaps the question about whether to talk/distract oneself or to be fully present in a session is not really about what you do at all. Perhaps Mr. Bengton’s secret is that he has no attachment to the outcome of his work and therefore the work can follow its own course unimpeded. I think your method works very well and you should give yourself more acceptance of your own perfection. Perhaps there are no “mistakes” and you are just opening more deeply to the radical mystery that you already are.

Thanks for your generosity and kindness. I really enjoy your blogs. Cheers, Amy

  3. Dr. Bengston held six workshops in Toronto in 2007 and 2008 and I had the pleasure of being at all of them as organizer. Our experiences in using the method can be found in the 2008 and 2009 entries of my blog, bioenergyandcancer.blogspot.com. We had some amazing experiences but ultimately found we were not able to cure documented cancers. I would love to know if anyone who has taken a Bengston workshop since then has been able to use the method to effect such a cure independently of Dr. Bengston. Going by Rupert Sheldrake’s theory of morphogenetic fields it would make sense for the effectiveness of the method to increase as the field grows. I am looking forward to hearing about people’s positive experiences!

  4. Judith,
Thank you. I’m so glad he is doing more workshops. Margaret Nies wrote the participants that Dr. Bengston said the questions we asked were really great and he seemed to have enjoyed teaching. It was sold out – I think there were 49 or 50 people there. It will be exciting to see what happens now.
    Thank you for sharing!
    Jeri

  5. Just out of curiosity, did anyone say to you that Dr. Bengston’s students have been successfully curing pancreatic, breast, bone, lung etc. cancers for the past 35 years? There is someone out there making this claim and I’ve never heard Dr. Bengston say anything that would support it.

    1. No, the only person I know of who has cured cancer in people is Bengston.
Bengston mentioned in passing during the workshop that people have had good results with his technique, but did not say what those results were. He has trained people to heal mice with cancer in the experiments.
I’ll let you know if I find out anything more.

  6. What do you think of this:

“Over the past 35 years, Dr. Bengston and the therapists he has trained successfully treated people with many types of cancer—bone, pancreatic, breast, brain, rectal, lymphatic, stomach, leukemia—as well as other diseases, all using this hands-on technique that is painless, noninvasive and has no unpleasant side effects. To Dr. Bengston’s knowledge, no person he has healed ever experienced a recurrence.”

This has been posted on the internet. It’s very similar to this paragraph from from Bill’s book:

“Over the past 30 years I’ve cured bone cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, brain cancer, rectal cancer, lymphatic cancer, stomach cancer, leukemia, all using hands-on techniques which are painless, noninvasive and have no unpleasant side effects. To my knowledge, no person I’ve healed has ever experienced a reoccurrence.”

The question is, what does “successfully treated” mean? If I were a cancer sufferer reading that paragraph what would I read it to mean?

    1. Judith,
I would take “successfully treated” to mean the person Dr. Bengston worked with had cancer, was treated by Bengston and now does not have cancer. I believe Bengston has cured cancer in people, that’s why I went to Denver to take his workshop.
I don’t know who posted the first paragraph on the internet, so I don’t know if the therapists he has trained have healed cancer. If Bengston wrote it, then I would like to know who these therapist are and find out more.
      Thanks,
      Jeri

  7. Judith,

Thank you so much for sending this link. This is very interesting. Here are some questions I have:

1). Has Dr. Bengston ever recommend surgery for slow-growing cancers?

2). This is the first time I have heard that Dr. Bengston recommends 8 sessions spaced a week apart for treatment. I have also never read or heard him hypothesizes that the human body takes a week to process a treatment. In fact, I know he said he has given at least one person with cancer treatments everyday when he thought it was appropriate. Has he found that sessions once a week are best?

3). Does Dr. Bengston really “consistently refer” clients to the trained therapists at Equilibrium”?

I do know that Reiki is not the only form of energy work that you can do on yourself. You can do many Healing Touch techniques for self-healing.

In his book Dr. Bengston writes that he does not believe healers should be paid for healing. I personally don’t agree with him on this point, but unless he has changed his mind this was my understanding. So for him to recommend Equilibrium at $300.00 for four session does not sound quite right.

I have asked him questions #2 and #3 on his website and sent him the Equilibrium link. The website states it may take some time to receive a response. I will get back to you when he answers.

Again, thank you so much for the link.

  8. An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a friend who has
been doing a little homework on this. And he actually bought
me breakfast because I stumbled upon it for him…
lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!!
But yeah, thanx for spending the time to talk about this topic here on your blog.

  9. Dear Jeri. It is now six years later. Have you had any other observations or experiences with the Bengston method? Have you taken any more workshops with Dr. Bengston? Would you recommend his workshops?

    1. I very highly recommend Bengston’s classes, lectures, and books. He is brilliant, has healed cancer in people and mice, and his research is invaluable to all healers. When he comes to my area, I will at least go to one of his lectures to see what he has discovered in the last few years. I cannot say enough about him and his work. Really, go learn as much as you can from this guy, you will be glad you did.
