Trusting The Intuitive Process Of Healing

Learning to perceive energy in a healing session has often been — and still is — a surprising and mysterious process.

The Healing Touch Professional Association offers Virtual Chapter videos for members on a wide range of healing topics. In one of these videos — I can’t remember exactly which one — an experienced and successful healer shared a simple technique she uses to keep her mind from wandering during sessions.

On the surface, keeping your mind focused during a healing seems logical. Yet my inner experience often unfolds very differently. My thoughts tend to act like a mirror, reflecting the emotional energy of my client’s inner world.

One session in particular stands out. A young mother came in, mentioning during check-in that her daughter had broken her wrist the day before. It sounded like a straightforward situation — a typical childhood accident.

But as soon as I placed my hands on her, a wave of violent imagery surfaced in my mind — flashes of car crashes, murders, and death scenes from police shows I had watched more than a decade ago. The intensity shocked me, and my first reaction was judgment: “Wow, this is not appropriate for a healing space.”

Over the years, though, I’ve learned to trust the process. My greatest strength as a practitioner is knowing that whatever arises in a session — whether calm or chaotic — has a purpose in the healing space. So I stayed with it. About ten minutes later, the violent images dissolved, and what emerged was a deep sadness. I could feel it release.

When the session ended, my client opened her eyes and said, almost in surprise, “I had no idea I was that traumatized. I feel so much better.”

The emotional intensity had belonged to her, but the specific imagery came from my own life experience. I wasn’t reading her thoughts — rather, I was sensing the quality of them. This reflection helps me hold space more fully and meet my clients exactly where they are.

Healing Touch: Opening To Your Intuition

A panoramic view of a serene ocean at sunset, featuring soft clouds and rays of sunlight emerging from behind a distant mountain. Several boats are visible on the calm water.

While Healing Touch isn’t specifically designed to open up intuitive abilities, I have witnessed so many of my clients relax into a space where heightened sensitivity and spiritual growth frequently happen.

Sometimes, just one session can create this opening for my client. More often, a series of healings unblocks their energy centers, and they find their unique spiritual gifts begin to emerge. These gifts include healing abilities, telepathy, mediumship, clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), spiritual guidance, messages, or visions.

Many clients realize, to their surprise, that they are extremely intuitive and have been using these gifts throughout their lives. It is a joy to watch people experience a deeper understanding of who they truly are.

A whole new realm of life opens up when you become aware of your intuition. Intuition often leads you toward choices that reflect your true values and desires, guiding you to a more authentic, meaningful, aligned life.

Intuition is a direct line to something deeper—your subconscious, your inner wisdom, or even a sense of the divine. Becoming aware of it can make you feel more connected to yourself, others, and the world.

There’s also a sense of wonder. Intuition isn’t always explainable, and that mystery can be exhilarating. It invites curiosity, openness, and trust in the unknown.

A Letting Go Meditation

I am reading and rereading the book Letting Go: The Pathway Of Surrender by David Hawkins. I highly recommend going to the library or bookstore and reading pages 19 through 25. Seriously, this information can really help you process challenging emotions and gain insights into your health and life. Here is the first paragraph of that section, The Mechanism of Letting Go:

“Letting go involves being aware of a feeling, letting it come up, staying with it, and letting it it run its course without wanting to make it different or do anything about it. It means simply to let the feeling be there and focus on letting out the energy behind it. The first step is to allow yourself to have the feeling without resisting it, venting it, fearing it, condemning it, or moralizing about it. It means to drop judgment and to see that it is just a feeling. The technique is to be with the feeling and surrender all efforts to modify it in any way. Let go of wanting to resist the feeling. It resistance that keeps the feeling going. When you give up the resisting or trying to modify the feeling, it will shift to the next feeling and be accompanied by a lighter session. A feeling that is not resisted will disappear as the energy behind it dissipates.”

Some mornings, this is my entire meditation. If I wake up feeling uneasy or especially stiff, I focus my attention as Dr. Hawkins describes above. I have found this also works incredibly well with physical pain. Often, the sensation will move to another part of my body. Thoughts and memories sometimes surface, but when I focus on what is in my body, I bypass my mind and can easily track the sensation. The more I do it, the more I get out of it.

Energy can be experienced kinesthetically as hot, cold, heavy, or tight (the most common sensation). It can have a color or feel chaotic, carbonated, or spikey. I am usually surprised by what happens.

I have been doing this with clients for the last several years before we even get to the healing table, and they are blown away. I am blown away; it’s amazing. It is also much easier when you do it with someone holding space.

Take care, and Happy New Year.

Healing: Acknowledging Inner Guidance

When your nervous system relaxes, it is much easier to connect with your intuition and highest wisdom. During a Healing or Breathwork session, many people receive valuable guidance.

This guidance can range from ‘call your friend John tomorrow’ to a complete vision of your life purpose. I have witnessed these things happen for my clients and everything in between.

People tend to want the big vision. I include myself in this group. I certainly find big visions exciting and somewhat comforting.

Yet, calling John could be the key to a massive life shift, and that conversation may reveal your next step. Yet, as incredibly valuable as this kind of inner guidance is,  I find people dismiss it and end up not calling John.

Are you acknowledging and following your inner guidance? How does guidance sound/feel/look to you? Is there resistance to calling John? Why? What meditative practices reconnect you to yourself?

Taking the time to rest, center, and balance our energy makes it so much easier to open to simple next-step possibilities. In these times, creating space to reconnect to our deepest internal guidance is a radical act. An act that can bring deep peace.

I would love to hold the space for you to access this peace.

Procrastination, Healing, And Our Inner Intelligence

IMG_8682Procrastination can come from our highest guidance. Maybe we should not do the very thing we think we should be doing.

I have found it very helpful to not judge, but honor, my resistance.  I have found that is where I can often find a direct connection to my inner intelligence.

This was a big birthday year for me. I wanted to do something special; go somewhere I had never been, try something new, create some kind of ritual to mark this moment in my life.

Last January, I sat at my computer and could not decide where to go or what to do.

It was so frustrating. I couldn’t book a flight or an AirB&B. Nothing felt right. It was weird. Of course, it became apparent why I had so much trouble making, or as it happens, not making that decision on where to go for my birthday.  I was sheltering in place.

What an interesting experience in discovering how my intuition guides me.

Now with the pandemic, I have to continue to go within to decide so many things: When should I start seeing clients in person? What is safe? How can I be in service to the world, pay my mortgage, and stay energetically aligned?

It feels so strange to make any long-term decisions in a short-term world.

That being said, I did buy a very portable healing table.

Healing: Creativity Is Our Power

“Creativity is inherent in being human and is key to how we learn and grow; creativity is our power. And in this day and age of great change, exercising our creativity is a revolutionary act.”

Beth Barany, Writer

Do you feel stuck and uncreative? Do you feel like you just can’t finish that book, painting, or business plan you started? Is it hard to stay focused on your projects as the world appears to be unraveling?

A distance healing may be just what you need to clear whatever is holding you back from being fully present in the moment and connected to your inner guidance. An energetic session may clarify what you are called to create at this time, and what the world most needs from you.

A Reiki or Healing Touch session may also help you realize that the most creative thing you can do is let go of the thought that anything even needs to be created. Maybe being able to fully relax into not-doing is what opens the door to your greatest creative flow and allows you to step into your greatest service for the planet.

Distance healing is powerful.

Self-Care For Entrepreneurs

We tend to think of artists, healers, and writers as creative and intuitive, yet some of the most highly sensitive and successful people I have worked with are real estate agents, CEOs, and small business owners. These people use their intuition daily as they navigate fluctuating money flow, employees, and economic trends in the business world.

These clients are entrepreneurs and have discovered that regular healing sessions greatly support them by keeping them centered, grounded, focused and clear when making decisions. These blocks include negative thinking and old emotional conditioning, fears and outdated beliefs. One client also finds Healing Touch and Reiki sessions very helpful for recovering from jet lag after traveling internationally.

Several clients have found that healing sessions are so good for business they often write our appointments off on their taxes!

Healing and Opening To Intuitive Abilities

Sometimes receiving a series of energy sessions can help you become more aware of your own intuitive abilities. Over the years, many of my clients have opened up to a whole new way of being in the world after rebalancing their energy system. Highly intuitive people often realize the depth of their natural gifts only after more conventional structures and life strategies have collapsed.

A collapse can be brutal in the moment it occurs and is often experienced as a failure. Yet, an event that may have been viewed as a “breakdown” may come to be recognized as a “breakthrough”. A crisis is that point in your life when you finally had to create a more suitable path that allows you to be who really are.

Below is a testimony from a client who realized she had already started navigating through the world using her intuition, as well as her logical mind. This really helped her more clearly perceive her own inner guidance and trust her own decisions:

“Jeri has been an amazing resource for me. She has help me to find my intuitive self as well as understand my body and mind connection. Having knowledge about this has helped me discover possible new paths in my life in order to live in a more divergent manner. In addition, she has helped reduce my anxiety over the last six months which had been plaguing me for over a year. Thank you Jeri!!!”
