Procrastination, Healing, And Our Inner Intelligence

IMG_8682Procrastination can come from our highest guidance. Maybe we should not do the very thing we think we should be doing.

I have found it very helpful to not judge, but honor, my resistance.  I have found that is where I can often find a direct connection to my inner intelligence.

This was a big birthday year for me. I wanted to do something special; go somewhere I had never been, try something new, create some kind of ritual to mark this moment in my life.

Last January, I sat at my computer and could not decide where to go or what to do.

It was so frustrating. I couldn’t book a flight or an AirB&B. Nothing felt right. It was weird. Of course, it became apparent why I had so much trouble making, or as it happens, not making that decision on where to go for my birthday.  I was sheltering in place.

What an interesting experience in discovering how my intuition guides me.

Now with the pandemic, I have to continue to go within to decide so many things: When should I start seeing clients in person? What is safe? How can I be in service to the world, pay my mortgage, and stay energetically aligned?

It feels so strange to make any long-term decisions in a short-term world.

That being said, I did buy a very portable healing table.

Healing: Creativity Is Our Power

“Creativity is inherent in being human and is key to how we learn and grow; creativity is our power. And in this day and age of great change, exercising our creativity is a revolutionary act.”

Beth Barany, Writer

Do you feel stuck and uncreative? Do you feel like you just can’t finish that book, painting, or business plan you started? Is it hard to stay focused on your projects as the world appears to be unraveling?

A distance healing may be just what you need to clear whatever is holding you back from being fully present in the moment and connected to your inner guidance. An energetic session may clarify what you are called to create at this time, and what the world most needs from you.

A Reiki or Healing Touch session may also help you realize that the most creative thing you can do is let go of the thought that anything even needs to be created. Maybe being able to fully relax into not-doing is what opens the door to your greatest creative flow and allows you to step into your greatest service for the planet.

Distance healing is powerful.

Distance Healing

The Healing Space

For the last 35 or so days, I have been sharing healing energy at a distance.

When Shelter-In-Place began, I was working with several clients with compromised immune systems, including two women near the end of their radiation/chemotherapy treatments.  They had been doing so well; I persuaded them to try a remote session so I could continue to energetically support them.

The distance healings proved to be very helpful. It was the beginning of a whole new learning curve for me in my healing practice.

Many of my regular clients are now working with me remotely. I also have new clients I have never met in person call me for a session. I could never have imagined this happening before the pandemic.

I have to admit that when I first started distance healings, it was not effortless on my part. It was one thing to do a distance healing once every two weeks or so, but to have my whole practice become nonlocal opened up a new level of energy. I had to learn to stay grounded in a new way. It has taken me a month to relax into it and fully enjoy these distance sessions.

At the start of the pandemic, I also emailed five of my clients who are also healers and wrote about how helpful distance healings could be for their clients. I explained the procedure I used and encouraged them to find the protocol that worked best in their practice. All five enthusiastically reported back about their results.

I have found that distance healings are just as effective as in-body treatments, I swear, sometimes they appear to be even more beneficial. They also take about ten minutes less time.

If you have taken a Healing Touch, Reiki, or any other healing class, try reaching out to friends and family to share a distance healing. Even meditating on the phone with another person is powerful.  If you pray, chant, sing or do yoga, dedicate the beautiful energy of your practice out into the world. Do not underestimate the power of your intention. You don’t have to be a professional healer to create great healing and balance internally and externally.

Stillness And Healing

“By being still everything is illuminated. When everything is illuminated there is no difference anymore between stillness and movement.”

Healing And Evolving Paradigms

In this last month, I would describe my experience of energy, of the collective consciousness, as both “thick” and “fast.”

“Thick” in a way that is not bad, or negative, or even emotional, just denser. There are times when walking from my bathroom to the kitchen feels so oddly exhausting. Doing little things like washing dishes or writing emails takes so much more time and focus. It sometimes feels like everything is deep underwater.

These “thick” experiences do not last for very long, yet I still feel slightly disoriented when I return to normal. Maybe that’s because normal also feels like such a continually evolving state of consciousness.

One morning several weeks ago, I woke up feeling the denseness, and I could not shake it off. Thank God I had a distance healing booked for myself that day with Laurie Ratto. That fifty minutes shifted everything. I felt fabulous for the rest of the day, and it was one of the most effective healings I have ever received. It was incredible how different I felt.

I am also experiencing the energy of sheltering in place as “fast.”  I started noticing this before the virus, but it is really amping up now. I have been doing one or two distance healings a day since we locked in place, and it is crazy how powerful these sessions have been.

I do distance healings as if my clients are lying on my massage table. I can feel the energy under my palms moving – fast and intensely. People are healing and rebalancing so quickly. It’s mind-boggling.

I have been doing distance healings for the last twenty-five years, yet only as a last resort, when my clients were in pain and could not get to my office. I knew distance healings were effective, yet the concept of remote healing is difficult to market; I used to find it challenging to ask for $150.00 for something people don’t think is real. I’m not finding it challenging now.

My paradigm of what is possible has certainly opened up. 🙂

Healing In Place

This moment feels so ordinary, yet and so extraordinary at the same time.

It’s surreal.

Each day I make coffee and do my morning yoga, and everything feels so familiar, yet so different. It is impossible for me to mentally grasp what is going on.

When I walk my dog Berkeley, I can feel a deep quietness in the air. It’s like my feet have slipped into an ocean, and I am now aware of every drop of water. I can feel how connected we all are in this isolation.

I am also experiencing more profound intimacy with my boyfriend, dog, family, and friends as we shelter in place. Yet, not being able to eat out, gather in groups, see clients, or give someone a hug is freakishly isolating. Both things are here, in this moment.

Staying centered in this duality is challenging. It’s wonderful to see so many great meditations, free teachings and podcasts available online now.  In this contraction of our physical freedom, there is a vast expansion of consciousness.

As the world started to shelter in place at the end of March, I asked my clients with sensitive immune systems to try distance healing instead of coming to my office.  One client who was doing exceptionally well was in her last week of radiation, and I didn’t want her to backslide before she had completed her treatment. The distance healing proved to be beneficial.

Now that I can’t see any clients in person, I am doing one or two distance healings a day. I am amazed at how powerful these healings are. I have been encouraging other healers to offer distance healing to their friends and clients, and they also have reported very positive results.

We are so connected and we are now opening to the incredible healing possibilities that have always been available to us. This is the time to heal in place.

Welcome 2020, The Year Of Perfect Vision

This year I recommit even more lovingly to radical self-care. To keep moving toward the light, rather than fight the darkness.

It’s day three of the new year and I am two days behind in my 30-day yoga challenge. I am not going to let that stop me from taking care of myself. I recommit to my yoga practice this morning and validate all the wonderful things I have done in the last three days while I was not doing yoga.

My vision is to fully enjoy every moment of this precious life.

Poetry In A Healing Session

The quote below is from a much longer email written by a client after her Healing Touch session. She receives weekly healings and has an amazing mental capacity to remember her experience of the energy work with meticulous clarity and detail. She is also a gifted writer and I have learned so much from her writing. This particular session consisted of a long Charka Connection as taught in the Healing Touch Program:
“There were so many different things going on. It’s been a while since there were quite that many things that happened. I swear–every time you shifted to a different part of my body, my experience changed entirely. The one thing that was consistent was that there was a quietness (I wanted initially to say stillness, but that was not the right word) that moved through me. It wasn’t any kind of movement or vibration or heat or anything; it felt most closely like those really still rivers–the way the water can be almost flat but still moving. That’s sort of what it felt running through me the entire time. There were moments of heat and warmth, but not really much more intense energy that that quiet movement.”
Quiet movement.
The way the water can be almost flat but still moving.
It’s poetry.

Breath LOVE: An Excellent Book On Breathwork

“Control does not bring happiness, or freedom, or a sense of aliveness. Control brings tightness and constriction. It is a fearful response to life. It is only by learning how to stop controlling, and by relaxing, that you are able to be in the flow-the flow of life, the flow of change.”

– From the book “Breath LOVE” by Lauren Chelec Cafritz

I love this quote and I love this book.

This book was not written to be a  marketing tool; it’s an honest, practical, accessible book on Breathwork and the incredible possibilities available to us with this modality. If you are curious about Breathwork and want to know more, this is the perfect book to read.

Breathe LOVE is about Lauren’s personal journey, how she healed her body, let go of fear and open up to a new way of being in the world. In this book, she generously shares what she has learned from being a Breathworker, and how it has benefitted her clients.

She holds Breath Circles every Monday night in Bethesda, MD and if I lived there I would be there in a heartbeat.

Thank you, Lauren, for writing this book.
