Healing Touch Is Good for Business

IMG_3315“I recently came to Jeri for Healing Touch. I knew I had mental and emotional blocks that were holding me back in my business.

During the session I could feel releases of energy and toxins and I have never felt such surges of energy and I should mention I’ve been a massage therapist since 1989!

I had to go home and lay down afterwards, just to let my body and mind integrate this powerful experience.

The most amazing thing is…I’ve had at least 6 new client inquiries in the past two days and my energy has shifted in a noticeable way. Just this morning a close friend remarked that my face looked different from the last time she saw me, just a week prior. I’m still feeling the effects of this Healing Touch session and I want another!”

Healing: A Personal Story

IMG_0322
Berkeley On His Way To Surgery

Reiki makes a difference.

My dog Berkeley was born with a few dental issues. Four of his upper teeth were cutting into his lower jaw, causing inflammation that would eventually lead to an infection in his lower jaw. After careful research, I scheduled his surgery on a Friday of last February.

The surgery went well, but after three days Berkeley started bleeding. I will spare you the details, but I have never seen such a small animal lose so much blood, and lose it so fast. It was horrible. Was it from the surgery? Did he eat a chicken bone?

After a trip to the vet, I found out it was a reaction to his pain medication. I was very relieved to find it wasn’t something worse, but Berkeley was still far from well. He was given medication for his colon and had to eat boiled chicken and rice until his digestion returned to normal. That meant he had to poop, which might take as long as three days.

Berkeley was feeling pretty bad. When we got home from the animal hospital, he got out of the car and just rolled over on the garage floor because he was so tired. It was scary and heart-breaking.

Berkeley Healing

As soon as I carried Berkeley inside, I started giving him Reiki with both hands. It was cold and rainy outside, and my hands were warm with energy. Berkeley turned over on his back and snuggled in for all he could get.

I have never seen any person or animal take in so much Reiki as my nineteen-pound dog did over those three days. For about a year before the surgery, Berkeley and I had been meditating and sharing Reiki every morning. We were doing a beautiful Reiki meditation I learned in Kathleen Prasad’s Animal Reiki courses, that does not require touch. Now, though, he wanted Reiki with my hands on him.

My boyfriend Geoffrey is also a Reiki Practitioner, and we both gave Berkeley Reiki throughout the evenings, often all three of us sharing Reiki at the same time. Berkeley comes to work with me, so he also had Reiki between clients during the day.

When giving Reiki to animals, the animals let you how much they want, and I watched carefully for any signs of Reiki over-saturation. Berkeley always turned over asked for more. There were even times when he was so uncomfortable he did not want to be petted, but he always wanted my hands on him for Reiki.
Doing continual healing work with Berkeley was a profound experience. Many times during those three days there was no “me” giving Reiki, there was no “Berkeley” receiving Reiki, there was just this beautiful, peaceful, loving connection. There was just this space where we were all connected, and everything was ok, really ok. It’s impossible to describe fully.

What could have been an emotionally stressful time became a great gift with Reiki. If you are the least bit interested in learning to share Reiki with your animal, you can start by checking out Kathleen Prasad’s book “Reiki For Dogs.” Even if you have never done energy work before, do one of her “Try This” exercises and see what happens. You may be amazed.2016031695105327

I would like to thank The Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital, Dr. Isaacson, Reiki Teacher Kathleen Prasad, Sharon, Maurine, Neal, Terese, Bruce, Mojo, my Mom and Geoffrey Matsumoto for all your support during Berkeley’s recovery.

Healing: Grounding and Feeling Safe, Part Three

DSC_4057 Grounding helps the body feel safe.

Feeling safe is very healing.

Feeling safe and grounded in your body, even for a few minutes, is so beneficial after an accident, surgery or other traumatic event. I have energetically supported many clients through divorces, chemotherapy, and the loss of a family member by holding an energetic space where they can feel safe. Many times that feeling of being safe was the pivotal factor they needed to relax and heal themselves.

During a series of healing sessions with a client, I sometimes ask, “Do you feel safe in your body?” Physically safe?  Emotionally safe? Financially safe? I have found just becoming conscious of where we do not feel safe, in our bodies and in our lives, has opened many pathways to clearing unconscious fear.

What makes you feel safe and grounded?

  • A healing session?
  • A walk in nature?
  • Being around family?
  • Not being around family?
  • Talking to a friend?
  • Working?
  • Having a certain amount of money in the bank?
  • Giving yourself Reiki?

Life on this planet is a wild ride. Being grounded can be immensely helpful in not letting fear and anxiety stop us from living the life we want to live.

Healing Touch For Headaches

Version 2

Headaches are a sign that the energy field is out of balance.

I have had many clients book their first Healing Touch session because they were suffering from recurring headaches. Almost all of them had tried many other healing modalities and/or medications and had decided to try energetic healing as a last resort.

Healing Touch has proven to be very helpful for clients suffering from headaches.

As a healer, my intention for these clients is to assist them in balancing their energy field, not to get rid of a headache. I have no idea if a headache is from stress, allergies, tight neck muscles, a brain tumor or high blood pressure.

I was taught how to find disturbances and energetic blocks in the energy field when training to become a Healing Touch Practitioner. Assessing my client’s energy field, before I even start the healing, lets me know how best to help bring him or her into balance. I use a pendulum to check the energy centers, and my hands to feel the aura bout 3 to 6 inches off the body.

One of the many possible energy patterns I might find in my client’s biofield is that the whole aura feels “heavy” and “sticky.” In this case, I would then focus on clearing the aura with some clearing techniques.

Another energy pattern is a build up of energy around my client’s head that feels “busy” or “thick” or “electric.” If I felt this pattern, I would then hold the feet and do other techniques to help ground my client and let the energy flow through the rest of their body. Having a buildup of mental energy in and around the head is very common, with or without headache issues.

I could go on and on about the millions of energetic patterns I may find in a client suffering from recurring headaches. The point is: no matter what I find in the aura, the key to best serving my client is to help him or her reach a state of peace and relaxation.

A client with balanced energy field heals themselves. All healing is self-healing.

Jeri Lawson used to have severe migraines and gets immense job satisfaction from helping people live headache free. She is available for Healing Touch and Clarity Breathwork sessions Monday through Friday, 10 am through 8 pm, in the Temescal Area of Oakland, California.

Stand Down: Healing Touch For the Veterans on the Delta

Version 2

The Healing Touch Community in the East Bay is very committed to supporting the Veterans. One of the ways we give back to the Vets is bringing Healing Touch to the Stand Downs.

Stand Downs are held all across the country. They are one to three-day events that provide services to homeless veterans. They provide food, Social Security benefits counseling, shelter, clothes, haircuts, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, various health screenings, and much more. Often there is also massage, Chiropractic treatments and, as you might have guessed, Healing Touch available.

Last Saturday, I participated in the Stand Down on The Delta at the Contra Costa Fairgrounds. Here is a link to an article in the Contra Costa Times that gives you an idea of what the Delta Stand Down was like.

The whole event was so well organized. I just love that. Our Healing Touch coordinators are beyond amazing. There must have been twenty emails preparing us for the event. We had all the information we needed: directions to the grounds, where to park, where to get our shirt and badge, what to wear, what to bring, good snack suggestions – we were prepared!

Being in a healing space from 9 to 5 was quite extraordinary, as well as intense, and all that preparation came in handy. The coordinators were always on patrol in the Healing Touch tent, encouraging us to take breaks, eat snacks, stay hydrated and take good care of ourselves.

The healing sessions lasted about 30 minutes, and on Saturday, the day I volunteered, there were about nine healers. Some Healing Touch Practitioners signed up for both days.

It is wonderful to do healing work in a group. Even though the sessions were one- on-one, it felt like we were all working together. It was an incredibly loving, healing, and supportive environment for the Veterans.

Healing Touch Coordinator Suzanne Mittica wrote:

“I am always amazed at the generosity of spirit, the unstinting extension of personal skills of just darn nice people who volunteer for the many tasks of a successful Stand Down. It doesn’t matter what role we play in the rest of our life, we become the many with one purpose: to show the vets someone cares.”

I would like to thank Healing Touch Practitioners and Stand Down Co-coordinators Nancy Khlafallah and Suzanne Mittica. They spent the last year getting this event organized. Also thank you to Assistant Coordinator Cindy Durant and Helper Maryanne Mitchell.

I posted this video on how beneficial Healing Touch can be for Veterans once before, but it is such a good video, I had to post it again. I can’t link it directly from my blog, so after you click on the video box, then just click the word “YouTube” at the bottom of the video. That will take you right to a YouTube video you can easily watch. This video pretty much sums up why I volunteer at Stand Down:

Healing After Surgery

Healing Room
Healing Room

As Healing Touch Practitioner Janna Moll writes: “Clients tend to come in batches”*

The latest wave of clients in my healing practice have been contacting me for pain management and healing after surgery.

Post-surgery sessions are where I have seen people cynical of energy work join the Healing Touch fan club. I had friends who would roll their eyes at me when I talked about the benefits of energy work, yet after a post-surgery session they enthusiastically starting referring clients to me.

The most obvious effect of an energy session after surgery is the reduction of physical pain. For ankle and knee surgeries, clients have said they had no pain. It’s quite amazing.

Another incredibly wonderful thing is the clearing of anesthesia from the body, helping reduce nausea and headaches.

The third factor that I find immensely helpful is that Healing Touch helps my client relax and let go of anxiety. This helps them sleep so much better.

I feel like I am on a soap box here, but I can’t help it. Healing Touch and Energy work are SO HELPFUL when recovering from surgery. If you are getting ready to have surgery, find a Healing Touch Practitioner or another energy worker to give you a healing as soon as possible after the surgery. Having a session before surgery is also recommended.

Many hospitals – such as the Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek Medical Center – have volunteer programs where Healing Touch is readily available. That means it’s free!

Click here for a list of facilities that have Healing Touch. Many nurses are also Healing Touch Practitioners, so ask your Hospital if Healing Touch sessions are available. Click here for a link to Certified Healing Touch Practitioners all over the country.

Energy work makes a difference.
