Meditation, Reiki And The “Inner Net”

Version 2

Do you want to meditate, yet can’t seem to sit still for even two minutes? Do you start a daily practice for a few days and then suddenly can’t find the time? Does meditating bring up emotions that make you too uncomfortable to continue?

Grounding and energetically aligning your energy with a Reiki or Healing Touch session makes meditation so much easier. Scheduling a healing is a wonderful way to recommit and deepen your meditation practice.

I have had clients who were so busy for so long, that even the thought of sitting still for any length of time stressed them out. Yet, after few healing sessions, they relaxed into a solid daily meditation practice. The issues, memories, habitual thought patterns and stagnate energy that was initially blocking them fell away when their energy field came into balance.  Their meditation practice became a profoundly peaceful and enjoyable part of their day. I remember one client telling me many years ago: “I actually look forward to meditating now.”

Healing Touch As Support Through Chemotherapy: Another Testimonial

Buddha Sits At The Steps Of The Healing Space
Garden Outside The Healing Space

“I began to meet with Jeri before I received my second diagnosis of breast cancer. I must have intuited the tumor.

Jeri’s positive and clear energy helped me meet the most scary and trying moments that were to come. I met with her after my surgery and healed beautifully. My mindfulness yoga practice helped as well.

I began my series (4) of Chemotherapy infusions and would meet with Jeri right after. I had hardly any uncomfortable symptoms, slept well, had an appetite and have lost no weight. I will be going on Hormone Therapy and plan to continue to include Healing Touch as part of my Integrative Healing journey.”

Susana Renaud

Even though I have had a healing practice for over 16 years, I am still in awe of this work.

I know that someday energetic healing will be available in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals, and hospice centers to prevent disease and keep us in balance.

Every testimonial written and published awakens our collective consciousness to the power of Healing Touch and Reiki, and integrates energy work into our medical culture and daily reality.

Thank you for the testimonial, Susana.

The Ancient Art of Smudging Is Now Considered To Be A Powerful Antiseptic Technology

img_1681

Research has caught up with the ancient practice of smudging! This article by Sayer Ji is well worth reading, even though you have to navigate a few pop-up menus and other advertisements.

.

I have always found the smell of sage to be calming and grounding, so I have been smudging my healing space ever since I started my Reiki and Healing Touch business. Now science is validating this traditional intuitive practice.

.

It is now proven that the burning of medicinal herbs not only clears aerial bacterial populations by 94% within one hour, but keeps a contained room decontaminated for a full day after the smudging. Even one month after smudging, a room will still be clear of many pathogenic bacteria. I had no idea smudging did all this.

Introduction To Reiki For Animals In Davis, California Next Weekend

My Dog Berkeley Enjoying Reiki

I will be presenting a day-long Introduction to Animal Reiki workshop in Davis, California next Saturday, August 6.

Elizabeth A Fulmer, RMT, KMT, HTP-A, a gifted teacher and healer, has created a wonderful healing and Reiki community in Davis, California. I am so excited to share Reiki for Animals there next weekend.

The meditations we will be practicing are from the work of Kathleen Prasad, Founder and Director of Animal Reiki Source and President of Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA). I will also speak about the fascinating research of her teacher, Frans Stiene and the extensive resource available at the International House of Reiki.

In this workshop, you will learn how to “be” Reiki with your animals and connect to that profoundly compassionate space where all is one. It is in this space of oneness that healing responses naturally arise. With these simple traditional Japanese Reiki techniques, you will learn how to meditate with your dogs, cats, horses, goldfish and hummingbird and include them in your daily Reiki self-care practice.

Healing Touch For Phantom Pain

DSCF3335.JPG copyEven after being an energetic practitioner for over 20 years, there are still moments when I just have to step back in awe. Awe and profound gratitude. This work is so powerful and beautiful.

Last week I had one of these moments after a session with a client who had phantom pain.

Phantom pain is experienced in a limb or an organ that is not physically part of the body; often an amputated arm or leg.

In the clinic where I share Healing Touch, I worked with a woman who had extreme pain in her left leg that had been amputated many years before.  She was suffering. She told me her pain medication was no longer controlling her pain and on a scale of one to ten, her pain level was a 10.

I could feel with my hands the areas in her biofield where the “blockage” was – about 6” where her left knee would have been and then all along the inner shin from the knee down. She was so sensitive to my hands in her energy field that I had to move very slowly, or she would twinge in agony. For the first ten minutes of the session, I held my hands just outside the area of the blockage of the knee that was physically not there. I used a technique in Healing Touch called pain drain.

It took at least 20 minutes before she could even begin to relax. The full session was 50 minutes.

After the healing, she looked so relieved. She stated that her pain was now a 3. She was also very comforted to know that I could feel exactly where her pain was in the leg that was not physically there. We had our session at a clinic, so I will not be able to follow up with her. I don’t know if the pain came back after our session, or eventually went away.

I’ve never worked in my private practice with phantom pain to see if a series of healings would completely and permanently relieve phantom pain, but in my sessions with Veterans and those done in volunteer clinics, Healing Touch has been very effective in reducing phantom pain.

Awe and profound gratitude. It’s a good feeling.

There is a lot of healing going on in Asheville, North Carolina.

In this article by how Reiki and Healing Touch – as well as other complementary therapies such as guided imagery, aromatherapy, breathwork, massage, and biofeedback – are being integrated into mainstream medicine.

I discovered that in 2007 Lourdes Lorenz, a nurse of 33 years, started an integrative healthcare department at Mission Hospital in Asheville.  She has trained over 450 nurses to use Healing Touch.

Think about that: 450 nurses doing Healing Touch.

Talk about “being the change.” Thank you, Lourdes Lorenz!

“Like a ripple in a pond, when we heal ourselves, our energy sends a vibration and frequency that heals others and helps to heal the world.”

 – Katie Huff Oberlin

I am constantly inspired by other healers. Katie Huff Oberlin uses a “heart-centered approach to healthcare through Healing Touch and Shamanic Healing.” She has a practice in the Chicago area called Holistic Connections and an engaging blog on healing.

Check out her story “Preparing For Surgery.” It’s a simple, practical example of how helpful Healing Touch can be.

Thank you, Katie!

Healing Touch California’s 10th Annual Regional Symposium

HT CA Conf 2016
Self-care at the Symposium

Last weekend was Healing Touch California’s 10th Annual Regional Symposium in Redwood City.

I write a lot about my healing community, and that is because it is such an inspiration for me. As the sole owner of a healing business, the chance to talk with other Healing Touch Practitioners a valuable opportunity. At the conference there were many Practitioners who have been doing healing work for over 20 years.

The two keynote speakers on Sunday were excellent. Alice Percy Strauss, LSHC, CYT, CATY, CRI, Founder/Director of Yogatsu® Institute and Barbara Evans, founder of Crystal Wings Healing Art were engaging and clearly expressed the passionate they have in the work that they do. In the photo to the left, I am getting a Hand Reflexology session with Marcie Hintz, Certified Japanese Foot Acupressure Therapist, who studies with Alice Percy.

One conversation that was particularly interesting to me at this moment in my energetic practice was with Rita Kluny. Rita was certified in Healing Touch in 1994, and has over 35 years of nursing experience in Neonatal Intensive Care. She took all her Healing Touch classes with Healing Touch’s founder, Janet Mentgen. She gave a workshop on Healing Touch for Babies.

I can’t talk about the symposium and not mention Karen Drucker.  Her musical and spiritual presence touched everyone. What an amazing human being.

After the 11th Healing Touch symposium next April, I will have to schedule a day off just so I can write a longer post about it.
