For many of us, stepping out of a pandemic appears to be as challenging as it was to step in.
There have been times in recent healing sessions when my clients are just not ready to relax.
During a healing last week, I had my left hand on my client’s knee and my right hand on her ankle when I intuitively felt resistance in her leg. Her body was letting me know there was too much fear to relax. Her tight, hypervigilant muscles had been holding her together for many months – physically and emotionally.
As a healer, I honor this resistance. I witness every day how much emotion and energy our bodies hold and manage for us; I never try to override it, move it out, or release it.
I move my hands with great respect: my left hand on her hip and my right hand on her knee. There is no agenda, just deep respect for my client and the sacred space. I focus on holding the most calming, still, grounded space for all energy and emotions arising or not arising. I hold space for “no release.”
I move to the other side of the table and held her other ankle and knee. Suddenly everything released. My client’s whole body just exhaled all at once and let go into a very relaxed state.
Just like that. It was incredibly peaceful.
The space of not letting go is so healing.
