We are now into the 6th day of 2017.
Did you make any New Year resolutions?
Did you give up sugar? Decide to exercise regularly? Vow to drink more water?
Day six is about the time you start experiencing the physical symptoms of your body in detox because of a new diet.
Today also may be the day you might have found it impossible to get out of bed early enough to go to the gym. You ate half a candy bar yesterday. You may feel you are slipping back into the old habits you are trying to change.
It is time for the new year resolution reality check.
True change comes from recommitment. If you did eat that candy bar yesterday: let it go. Remove all the candy bars from your kitchen and office area and start again. Recommit. You didn’t fail. You are learning how to set yourself up for success. Change is all about being in the moment.
Plan a gym workout later in the day if you can’t get up early. Or maybe working out everyday is unrealistic for you at this time – redefine your goals and work out every other day. New Year resolutions are a good way to begin new projects and create new habits, but often (I raise my hand) we set some very unrealistic goals for ourselves.
